Explore with us the thrilling stages of our exciting MathCrazyDice project: from creative ideation to the fun-filled creation, and finally, to the exhilarating game of quick calculation. Discover how we transitioned from passionate players to genuine winners of this unique mathematical adventure.
OUR EDUCATIONAL GOALs
The "MathCrazyDices" project focus to develop understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts, through the creative use of dice made from recycled materials combined with basic programming using the microbit to manage the extraction of numbers during the game. Collaboration and teamwork with the involvement of all students and even studentss with disabilities were fundamental for the development and construction of the dice. Problem solving is developed through programming and managing the rules of the game, the latter created. Effective communication is key during project design and implementation to promote environmental awareness by understanding that objects are often not rubbish, but can have another life and creative use, as in our case. The motivated students felt involved and actively participated, creating and experiencing a fun and stimulating environment for learning mathematics through the game of dice.
Our project aligns seamlessly with the school and class curriculum for 7-year-old children. Mathematics, with a specific focus on arithmetic and geometry, is a crucial aspect for a second-grade class in primary school. Furthermore, our STEM and science curriculum strongly emphasizes environmental themes. Technology, represented by the microbit and programming, serves as the unifying "ingredient," making concepts that might be less appreciated by children captivating. We believe that the digital approach not only makes the learning journey engaging but also incredibly stimulating for our young students.

Our Competition
The STEM Alliance and Lenovo are organizing the STEM Alliance and Lenovo Competition:
Turning Waste into Educational Wonder within the Back to School Campaign 2023.
The Competition calls for educators in primary and secondary schools in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to explore Lenovo's Activity Booklet, draw inspiration from the proposed activities, and develop a new and creative project fostering students' creative and innovative thinking.
Lenovo supplies engaging educational materials for the competition, designed to encourage hands-on, interactive teaching of STEM subjects, while also promoting awareness of sustainability and waste management. Utilizing these materials, educators will learn to incorporate STEM lessons into real-life activities, explore recycling methods for classroom projects, and inspire students' interest in limitless STEM career possibilities.
