Letter to a Garden that will soon arise

After experiencing the thrill of harvesting olives and witnessing the magic of their transformation into extra virgin olive oil, the students of class 2^B enthusiastically embraced the captivating world of olive trees. Driven by a passion for nature and the land that surrounds them, they wholeheartedly committed themselves to cultivating olive trees, turning a simple school project into a genuine adventure of love and respect for the environment. Today, they take pride in presenting a new initiative that reflects their dedication to preserving nature and honoring ancient agricultural traditions: an experience that extends beyond their love for olive trees, embracing a deep connection with the world around us.

STEAM and self-care: the @ffectionat& Ide@ project

The project "An Affectionate Idea" aims to respond to children's desire to have an affectionate and sweet puppy pet by introducing an innovative element. To this end, a mechanical snail has been conceived, which, besides being adorable, aims to provide skin benefits through its hypothetical slime if it were real.

To engage students in a practical and educational experience, it was chosen to follow the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) pathway. Initially, students designed the snail in their notebooks, developing a 3D base that could accommodate a battery-powered vibrating motor. Subsequently, they shaped the body and shell using colored strips of paper personalized with writings.

Despite the initial satisfaction with the achieved result, students soon recognized that the mechanical snails lacked coherent direction in their movements. This awareness underscored the importance of programming within the project context. Through programming, students could provide specific instructions to the snail to move in precise directions, transforming it from a simple mechanical construction into a true interactive pet.

In conclusion, the "An Affectionate Idea" project not only satisfies children's desire for a pet but also engages them in an educational journey encompassing science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. This has enabled them to acquire fundamental skills such as design, construction, and programming.

Eco-Friendly Gardening: Cultivating Beauty with Environmental Respect

Eco-Friendly Gardening: Cultivating Beauty with Environmental Respect" is the project that promotes "I care," emphasizing the fundamental importance of nurturing for the younger generations. Understanding the value of respecting both things and people isn't always innate, which is why we conceived the "I Care" project. We've observed that gardening and tending to a green corner in the school, as well as caring for small plants placed on students' desks, can significantly contribute to nurturing this sensitivity. Through dedicated work and constant commitment, we've succeeded in reshaping our students' awareness, encouraging them to respect their surroundings, their environment, and the people around them. We've demonstrated that beauty isn't merely aesthetic; it's the outcome of sincere and unwavering dedication.

Learning: PBL, Coding, and AI for Sustainability & Inclusion is an initiative between Google and European Schoolnet, which started with the MOOC Computer Science with Google and continued with the Edu-hackathon with Google — an event where educator teams from different countries designed and developed four inspirational learning scenarios centered around:

 

  • Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching coding

  • Visual programming

  • 3D, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
